Have you ever wondered how a successful business started in the first place?
For most businesses, it starts with an idea. The idea can either be to break free from the corporate world or the thirst to be your boss or the inner voice that tells you to follow your passion, etc. The idea here is to start your business, to build something new from scratch. This is what I did. Ergode was an idea that I nurtured with love and hard-work taking it to the heights which I always dreamed of.
I have come across dozens and dozens of businesses and startups over the last few years. Some kept growing while some subside in the journey. I have seen companies go public at valuations of more than $100 Million, and others crumble under the weight of their own mistakes. So, if you have an amazing idea, the spark is there and your heart skips a beat, then you should ask yourself a very important question:
How do I start?

It all starts with defining your why. Ask yourself “Why I want to be an entrepreneur”? Or “Why I want to make a difference to the world”? Trust me that’s what I did when I decided to be an entrepreneur. Of course, deciding to be an entrepreneur won’t answer all of your why(s) but definitely, it would help you to understand why you made this decision in the first place.
And that’s how I found my passion to start Ergode. Once you are aware of all underlying reasons, the next thing that you need to execute is market research. Never assume that you already know everything about the market place and the consumers. Ask as many questions as possible.

What I mean here is asking relevant questions that will take you close to your goals and provide clarity. When I first decided to be an entrepreneur, all I did is going to the experts and asking them many questions just to understand their point of view.
Once you are aware of the direction to go in, the next step is to get in the weeds (not literally in the weeds though). What I mean here is you need to see a big picture. Pay attention to the smallest details such as the color of your website, how you will be shipping products, and who will be working for you. Don’t avoid these details of your business because bigger picture ideas are more fun (in many ways). That’s what we do in Ergode as an organization.

And now you are ready to launch your business with a blast. You have a plan to work on, you know your market, and now you are all set to launch. And then you make the leap of faith.
All I want to say is never to stop believing in yourself. Believe in your capabilities, your ambition, and your hard work. If I would have stopped believing myself at the initial stages, we won’t have been in the top 500 fastest-growing companies. Don’t try to be flawless and best in everything you do. Learn and keep growing. And see how success will choose you each time!

Sinek has rightly said, “Working hard for something we don’t care is called stress; working hard for something we love is called passion”.
