FAMILY: Where life begins and love never ends

To be successful you have to put in the hard work. Sometimes it requires you to burn the midnight oil. But success comes at a big price. That price is commonly known as stress. If stress is not dealt with appropriately it can affect your work life. They can even damage your personal life and mental health. But how do we deal with this? Is there any immediate remedy? We have been told by experts that the best way to reduce stress is by exercising, meditation and relaxation. These are effective but to an extent. Research has proved that spending time with family and friends can have positive effects on mental health. I always try to squeeze in time for my family irrespective of how stressful or busy my day is. Watching my young ones laugh and play makes me happy. I forget about my work at that moment. I would like to share my experience on how you can make time for your family. Hope this helps.

Plan time with family

Try spending as much time with your family as possible. Once you are done with work make time for them. On weekends try taking your family for lunch or a short trip. When you resume work on Monday you will fresh and ready to take on the week.

Talk about your day

Nobody understands you better than your loved ones. If you ever feel like ranting after a hard day at the office who better than your friends? If you ever need advice on dealing with work who better than your elders? Not only will you get the solution to your issue but you will end up receiving some priceless wisdom. Emotional load shedding will help you feel light. If you don’t have any medium to vent your stress you could head into depression. Having a strong support system will help you prevent that.

Avoid bringing work home

It has become a worldwide trend to bring your work home. Sometimes we remember to answer an email at home. Due to this, you are bringing your stress home. Such things can also drive a family apart. Try finishing your work before you leave. Make a task sheet when you start the day. When you are leaving for the day check your task sheet. This way you will avoid bringing home your work. This will also help you to avoid burnout.

Plan More Vacations

I always look forward to my family vacation. Not only do I get to unwind but I also get to teach my kids a new culture. Vacations are the ultimate opportunities to spend quality time with those who we are closest to. Taking a vacation can vastly reduce stress. Spending quality time with your loved ones creates priceless and fond memories, Apart from this vacationing results in increased activity levels because you are out on excursions which is a great way to shed stress.

It is good to be hardworking and responsible. Every organization loves employees who are immensely dedicated to their work. But don’t let your work and responsibilities overpower your life. Family and friends will serve as your pillar of strength. Their importance cannot be stressed (pun intended) enough. As the saying goes, the love of a family is life’s greatest blessings!
