Staying Organized: When in doubt, list it out

In a generation of fast foods, fast cars, and fast internet we tend to focus on many different things at one time. In our world, this is also known as multitasking. While multitasking is an excellent skill-set to have in your arsenal, sometimes focusing on too many things at the same time might lead to less productivity at work which in turn leads to added stress. Sometimes we tend to lose focus on the small factors that make a huge impact. One of these small factors is the skill of being organized. I have always worked hard to enhance the overall quality of my work life. It took me some time to figure out how to achieve this but eventually, I made it to the promised land. Let me explain with the help of some common examples. Now, imagine you have kept your manager waiting because you couldnt locate an important file, or you have reached late for a meeting or you have missed an important deadline. The above mentioned corporate sins will make you look bad and can hamper your professional growth. Staying organized at all times will help you avoid going through the above-mentioned nightmare and also make a good impression on the management. Let me show you how:

Time management

Prioritize your work by keeping the most critical tasks at the top. This way work that is crucial gets more priority and you end up meeting deadlines smoothly. Creating your own internal deadlines and checklists will ensure that you not only complete the tasks beforehand but also with quality.

Flexibility

To be successful in any sector you need to have the ability to adapt to any given situation quickly and be flexible. When you stay organized you tend to have things ready depending on the priority. This enables you to react quickly and come up with a creative solution.

Work-life balance

Sometimes we get so immersed in our work that we tend to overlook the work-life balance and our families end up paying the cost. Setting realistic time targets for each task will help us get the job done faster which will give us enough time to spend with our families.

Stress buster

One of the few things I despise is seeing a messy and cluttered work desk. Organizing your workspace categorically will help keep your mind calm which in turn will enable you to achieve your targets without any stress. Maintaining your work desk will also help paint a very positive image of yourself.

Focus

Keeping everything around you tidy, maintaining checklists, making note of every brief communicated to you will help you focus better on what you want to achieve. This will help you become more productive which will enable you to climb the ladder of success.

Getting organized a matter of choice. While they have helped me to get where I am today, the only person who can determine how far you will go is YOU.
