Organizational Values that Employees Really Seek: Career, Community, Cause

Having an interactive conversation with one of the magazine reporters the other day about organizational values, I found myself bringing up the famous theory of the world-known and my personal favorite psychologist, Abraham Maslow. On being asked what did my employees actually want from the organization, I answered subtly, “one that every individual wants.” and then jumped onto the basic theory of needs.

Every individual irrespective of having a job or not want this hierarchy of needs to be met in order to live a peaceful, contented life. If your basic needs aren’t satisfied, it’s hard to focus on anything else. If you have a job that doesn’t pay enough, and you’re up all night worrying about survival, chances are you won’t spend much time dwelling on self-actualization.

Therefore, the organizations these days do not just focus on fulfilling the basic needs, but instead, they’re aiming to achieve every need of their employees, competing with others to be the best places to work. However, breaking down this hierarchy of needs further, what I realized was that my employees were driven by three significant factors: career, community, and cause that made them stay longer as a part of Ergode family.

Competency

Career is all about the work you choose for yourself – to have a job that gives you true independence and liberty to unleash one’s hidden potential. Ergode had its avenues open wide in terms of career opportunities for a diverse talent pool. Establishing itself into E-commerce, the various processes that Ergode undertakes not only put your abilities to work to their best but also at the same time advances your learning and improvement. The reason why Ergode is the home to the most talented people who have come to recognize themselves with a career that they always aspired for.

Community is all about people: This, according to me, works like a top priority for all. Being humans, we like to be a part of a broader significant community where we feel respected, cared about, and recognized by others. It not only binds us with the organization for the long run but also drives our sense of connection and belongingness. Ergode values each of its diverse employees and provides them with the best possible recognition through multiple awards and achievements.

vision and mission

Cause is about purpose: When an employee feels that he or she is making a meaningful impact in achieving the organization’s mission and believes that all his efforts are going for a good cause, it is then when he/she wants to put his heart and soul in it. Ergode, with its empowering mission and vision, motivates each of its employees to achieve his or her best.

This is what our employees wanted, and this is what we always gave. We could recruit, motivate, and retain more and more people by promising a great career, a close-knit community, and a meaningful cause. And I guess, the answer was given.
