Sharpen Your Skills To Stay Motivated & Grow in Life

“When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more towards your coveted goal.”

Napoleon Hill

It’s not easy to climb the corporate ladder in a fast paced environment like today, it’s of utmost importance for young professionals to sharpen their skills and stay abreast of the latest trends and happenings in the industry. Those days are coming to an end when there were layoffs taking place in every other organisation, people losing their jobs without having a different opportunity in hand. I must say job market is comparatively rising & improving, hirings are taking place again in organisations. According to the current trend working professionals & young graduates need to focus on what the employers are exactly looking for so as to upgrade & update their skills and stand apart from the current competition.

I still recall those days when analytical & technical skills were highly valued which still remains the criteria though, but the present competition definitely demands soft skills, communication & writing skills which go hand in hand. Young college pass outs should understand that just graduating from a reputed university would not fit the bill. There has to be a continuous learning beyond one’s basic qualification which  adds weightage to one’s resume or profile. Getting a job is no longer easy unless you meet certain criteria. Apart from that one needs to have the right goals and vision to succeed in life, to chase your dreams. And to achieve those goals and dreams of making it big one needs to rigorously update their skills in order to stay on the cutting edge.

The current growing competition doesn’t just demand sharpening one’s skills which is a part and parcel to grow in life though, it’s also a way to stay motivated, to stand ahead from the crowd. Learning new things by taking up courses, enrolling with renowned institutes doesn’t aid a person to grow  unless and until that learning is implemented on a day to day basis. Let me throw some light on the most important skills that today’s young professionals need to keep in mind to not only stay motivated but also to grow in life, to grow in terms of career aspects.

Strong verbal & written communication skills: In a professional atmosphere may it be verbal or written communication, employers look upon strong communication skills as one of the most valuable assets in employees.

Interpersonal Skills: How well one can gel with the team, coping with the colleagues, team members when it comes to teamwork & balancing it out well. Having strong interpersonal skills  not only means being able to relate, but also to collaborate well with the others in the team.

Time Management: This is one of the key aspects in any business today. Setting the right goals & achieving those goals within the time frame is a crucial thing for employees to grow in their  career and life.

Versatile & Being Proactive: For moving to the Leadership role, one is expected to be versatile and proactive depending on the person’s position, nature of work etc. This not only helps the person to grow in terms of their career aspects but also helps the employers to decide which role or profile is suitable for the employee to take up & excel in it.

Stay Motivated

I would rather suggest the present youth to actively and continuously upgrade  one’s personal attributes which is a crucial part and that involves a lot of rationale to weigh the pros and cons of the career choices that one makes at the end of the day. In the end it’s always better to make the right career choice at the right time so that one is motivated to work  continuously in a particular field & grow in terms of his or her career aspects and achieve the desired goals and aspirations.

“A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others”. Ayn Rand
